Mango will award 300,000 euros to the winner of El Botón Mango Fashion Awards

This coming Monday, April 27, 2009, Mango will celebrate its second edition of El Botón – Mango Fashion Awards with 10 finalists’ proposals. The award, which will be given at Hotel Majestic in Barcelona, is 300,000 euros, the largest grant in the world for this type of fashion event. The contest’s purpose is to encourage and promote the international projection of young fashion talents. Each contest participant will have the opportunity of exhibiting eight of his or her designs on April 27. The designs will be installed in one of the transparent cubicles in groups of four looks. 1. Silvia García Presas (Spanish designer) 2. Jean Pierre Braganza (creador resident in London) 3. Fiona Sinha y Aleksandar Stanic (residents of the United Kingdom) 4. Peter Pilotto y Christopher de Vos (residents of the United Kingdom) 5. Jakub Polanka (Czech Republic) 6. Christian Wijnants (Belgian designer) 7. Miriam Lehle y Sabina Egler (Germany) 8. Jin Youn Lee (Korea) 9. Alex Kim (New Zealand) 10. Josh Goot (Australia). The press conference won’t be held until April 29, 2009, at 1.30 p.m., when Oscar de la Renta, acclaimed international designer and president of the group of jurors, will announce the winner. The designs will be exhibited along the Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona until May 2, 2009.
