This sentence from a man who understood the role of mass media and its significance for society during the second half of the 20th century invites us to look for answers in the midst of problems. Businesses approach problem-solving keeping various factors in mind; for example, in SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats), organizations seek to compete knowing and boosting their internal resources, but without forgetting that beyond them are a series of factors that escape their control and that decisively affect their growth, that is, weaknesses and threats from the outside.

However, establishing the limit of a business or organization’s problem in a globalized world is difficult. That’s why defining a problem and demarcating it is already a complicated task in itself, but necessary, and may represent the first step toward the solution.

On the other hand, to widen the perspective beyond the problem boundaries could perhaps contribute to finding more complete and integral solutions.

I52I Thus was the statement of August Spies, one of those known as the Chicago martyrs, who was executed on November 11, 1887. His words overflow with a social stand that has characterized the working class struggle of the last years. Perhaps his words take on a new meaning in the context of the present financial crisis in the world, especially in some countries where the destruction of employment threatens the stability of workers and their families, who, as the 1886 Chicago strikers, hit the streets to demonstrate and make it clear that the “flames” are alive and that they cannot and should not be put out.

I10IThat is what Judith Mascó – Spain’s most international model and one of the most popular TV presenters of the country, a woman who has known how to develop both her personal and professional life – says she reveals in “Modelo,” a book that demythologizes her profession for young people who aspire to enter the modeling industry.

Mascó believes that being beautiful and successful without the ability to manage happiness and one’s personal life is a failure.

In her book she shares her viewpoints about this profession, both the positive aspects as well as the dark side of fashion, which also exists. She even talks about subjects such as sex, drugs, whether a model should get naked or not – subjects that are attractive to press and popular in discussions.
