Yokana, originally founded to create unique garments in all of its collections, today seeks to empower its growth through a franchise system. Using Rosario Flores and Jesús Vázquez for image, the firm is presenting articles that follow the original line of trends in clothing, handbags, belts and rings – a colourful variety for all ages.

The designs are matchless: Their principal weapons are colors, innovative fabrics, and traditional manufacturing. There are three boutiques and four franchises at the moment, although Yokana’s expansion plan is to reach a network of 50 stores before 2011. In exchange, franchise-holders will receive provisions such as a works and interior design project or direction for corresponding jobs, among other things.

Stores:
C\ José del Toro, 11 - 11004 - Cádiz
C\ Sancho IV El Bravo, 7 - 11380 - Tarifa - Cádiz
C\ Cabrales Nº 27 bajo - 33201 - Gijón - Asturias
C\ Reyes Católicos, 35 - 18001 - Granada
C\ Jorge Juan, 12 (Callejón) - 28001 - Madrid

I106I The group López Villanueva “Calzados Vogue LV” (Vogue LV Shoes) inaugurated their first “sustainable shop” two weeks ago on Teresa Herrera Street in A Coruña, Spain.

The shop will reduce their CO2 emissions by 2.76 tons, a highly improved change in their energy consumption. To do so, all of the lighting in the shop has been changed to led and low-consumption Downlight. Their consumption is 40 percent less than other stores, promising to motivate other shops to follow their example. Customers will also receive their goods in biodegradable bags.

Ecological care was the Lopez Villanueva’s motive for developing this new project, which has been expensive, but they affirm that it’s worth investing such a budget that will recuperated in time.

I91I Galician Spaniards (northwestern Spain) and Russians from the textile sector met yesterday at Expourense in a commercial mission organized by the Conferederation of Textile Industries of Galicia (Cointega) and the Orense Chamber of Commerce. The 15 gallegan fashion firms, such as Montoto or Rei Zentolo, were able to make contact with a delegation of 15 Russian textile import businesses. During their tour of northwestern Spain, the various Russian firms have expressed their interest in taking more than 40 brands back to their country.

According to Julia Kondaurova in Laregion.es, from the Russian agency Trendy, in Russia there is already an established positive view on the quality of the Spanish fashion firms and there is a demand for all sectors.

“These encounters are positive for making good contacts for entering the market. The results aren’t usually seen immediately but mid-term,” said Miguel Gómez Rivela, from the shirt-making establishment Eurogomca, which has been exporting for 10 years.

Louis Vuitton will use Internet for the first time in his new Core Values advertising campaign, in which he’s brought together three astronauts of mythic proportions.

The new portrait, created by the agency Ogilvy & Mather and photographed by Annie Leibovitz in the California desert, is the seventh in Vuitton’s Core Values series of celebrities. Sally Ride, the first woman to go to space, gazes at a full moon while she relaxes on the hood of an old pickup truck, accompanied by Buzz Alrin and Jim Lovell. Aldrin was the second person to step on the moon on the Apollo XI mission, while Lovell was the commander of the ill-fated Apollo XIII mission. The photo caption reads, “Some journeys change mankind forever.”
I88I
Vuitton thus pays homage to the 40th anniversary of man’s arrival on the moon, following the theme of journey as personal enrichment in the Core Values campaigns, which have featured celebrities like Sophia and Francis Ford Coppola, Keith Richards, Mikhail Gorbachev and Sean Connery.

I89I
This will be Vuitton’s first fully integrated press and digital campaign. On July 2 he will be launching the website Louisviuittonjourneys, which will include interviews with the astronauts in a highly interactive format that will actually allow the user to step into the role of film director. The website will also include an interview on Nobel Peace Prize Al Gore’s The Climate Project.

I65I The British designer Matthew Williamson is the creative mind behind H&M’s new summer collection. His limited edition female collection has been on sale in 200 selected H&M shops worldwide since April 23, while the second round – for both men and women – will be available tomorrow in every H&M shop.

The Swedish firm’s commitment to a luxury designer like Williamson – preceded by the Japanese Comme des Garcons’ collaboration with H&M – is well received by the stylish consumer seeking to save a few euros in times of crisis.I66I

I64I Prices vary between swimming suits for 25 euros to silk dresses for 299 euros. H&M has once more highlighted its commitment to the consumer with a reduced budget, while not compromising on style. Williamson introduces an ideal collection for the summer months: lively colors, prints, and his characteristic peacock motifs. According to the designer, red and pink play a leading role in this collection, reincarnating the “spirit of vacation.”

I54I The French film industry is bringing Coco Chanel to the silver screen. Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel (1883), with her masculine look thanks to her “garcon” hairstyle, made herself the best image campaign for her firm, which in its day liberated women from a chauvinist corset. Today’s feminine wardrobe is part of her work and effort.

Audrey Tautou plays Coco Chanel in Coco Avant Chanel, the romantic drama directed by Anne Fontaine that will be released in Spain on June 5.

The French actress Tautou is known worldwide for her 2001 movie Amelie of Montmartre directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. She says about her latest role: “I think that Coco was one of the first feminists, an incredible person full of strength and courage, self-taught, and a very modern woman for her time.”

The movie covers the life of Coco, her professional rise in the world of fashion, all of it mixed with her social context and sentimental ups and downs, especially her romance with Arthur Capel, considered her true love. The film also shows Coco constant anger against a society that limited her appetite for life.

I40I Next October 22 and 23, Servimoda hopes to get together 3,500 fashion professionals and young designers in Zaragoza, Spain. The event, a fair that covers the Euro-Mediterranean area, will attract different countries such as Russia, Morocco or Turkey.

This is the first fashion production contest for brands and designers that aims to pull together the offers of the garment industry, as well as the providers of all kind of fashion products. The goal is to get together professionals from most of the related sectors: accessories, garment industry services, optical industries linked to fashion, dressmaking, home textiles, raw materials, technological textiles, shoe making, leather goods, cosmetic and perfume laboratories, jewel and costume jewelry workshops, electronic industry, new technologies and nanotechnology. The president of the Zaragoza Fair, Manuel Teruel, explained that “the idea is that Zaragoza be the sector’s neuralgic center, of all the technology surrounding the Mediterranean area’s fashion.

The event will hold technical conferences on fashion (Jornadas Técnicas de la Moda) with talks on European production and the future of the sector. Public debates will also be held on fashion rules, research and development, outsourcing, business concentration, the implantation of new technologies, and the future of exporting. Luis Fernando Mayayo, president of Fitca, said, “The fair is an important commitment to adapting to the needs of the market. Fashion now demands shorter and better adapted production for the customer’s needs.”

I20I The model, actress and designer Kate Moss is now designing lingerie besides dresses, jeans, shorts, blouses and accessories for Topshop. Her Spring-Summer collection is just out with floral patterns and acid colors with a punk touch. The pieces of this limited edition cost between 40 and 250 GBP.

Topshop took only a year to land at the heart of London, Oxford Circus, after humble beginnings in a shop’s basement in northern England. The British chain now has 300 shops in the United Kingdom and 100 in the rest of the world, the last of which just opened last week at Broadway, New York – a four-story shop that is offering live music during these opening days. Topshop’s success is the combination of designers such as Alexander McQueen and Matthew Williamson with new design talents, together with fashion icons such as Kate Moss and Celia Birtweel.

This is the latest Topshop video on Youtube, which covers the Spring-Summer collection to the background the Swedish indie pop music “Those Dancing Days.” Topshop’s latest items can be followed thanks to its video channel on Youtube and its online store, www.topshop.com, which receives 700,000 unique visits per week.
